Our address is 264 South Bridge Road #03-01 (058813). We are at the corner of South Bridge Road and Smith St. For a map and directions, check out our Location Page. Our entrance door is along Smith St - check out the Location Page , which will give you all the information you need.
  • What are your opening hours?
Our opening hours are: Mon: noon to 8pm Tue: noon to 8pm Wed: noon to 8pm Thu: closed Fri: noon to 8pm Sat: noon to 8pm Sun: noon to 3pm Public Holidays: call to check Other timings available by appointment, just send us a text! Weekends are usually busy and usually involve some waiting time, and we may occasionally be busy on weekdays too - your patience is much appreciated. Please refer to our Location page for the latest information on our operating hours.
  • Do I need to book an appointment before visiting?
There is currently no need to book an appointment, you can just walk in. We may move towards an appointment-only basis in the future in order to better serve everyone, but we have to balance that out and be inclusive to our regular customers who may be less digitally/mobile-savvy and prefer to drop by when they are around the area.
  • Do I need to be vaccinated to enter the store?
No, we are not located in a mall, hence there are currently no mandated restrictions on entry. If you are not vaccinated, for your safety, text us to book an appointment outside of our usual hours, so you may browse exclusively.
  • What do your prices include?
The prices listed in our Shop already includes both the frame and the standard 1.56/1.60 multicoated lenses, i.e. they come with UV-blocking, anti-reflective coating. You can top up for progressives/office lenses, if you prefer premium or branded lenses, or if your prescription is out of range (e.g. very high myopia, high astigmatism). E.g. the $60 packages means that you only pay $60, if you do not need any upgrades (e.g. branded lenses), and your prescription is within our very inclusive range. There is no GST or other hidden costs.
  • Can I click to buy online?
Nope! We want you to try on the frame to make sure it fits, and you'll need to visit us for an eye check too. If you have your prescription (make sure it's valid and legit) and for some extraordinary reason you are unable to come down, send us a text and we will work it out. So come on down and give your favourite style a try. We are glad to help you find the best one too!
  • What frames and lenses do you offer?
We have lightweight TR90 frames, ultra-flexible Ultem frames, and Titanium alloy frames. We have standard multi-coated lenses that come with UV protection, violet-block lenses (sometimes known as "new generation blue-light blocking lenses" or "HEV420 lenses"), photochromic lenses (auto-tint under the sun), and more, in both single vision and progressives. We also carry premium lenses and branded lenses. Feel free to chat with us or walk in to find out, as we constantly strive to bring in products that provide the best value to consumers.
  • What is your cheapest pair of glasses?
$60 - and we have a good selection of styles! Yes, it comes with both the frame and lenses. No we don't charge GST. We may have prices even lower than this, when we run offers to clear last season's styles, or if we are testing out certain new designs.
  • Can I get a quotation / how much does it cost...?
The prices for our products are listed in our page at www.otagooptical.com/shop. The package price includes multicoated lenses (anti-reflective coating and UV protection included too) within our prescription range - more details are in the individual product page. Changing lenses on your own frame: Prices depend on your prescription, frame type, the lens you prefer, and if you are our regular customer. It is best to bring your frame in for us to give you a price, or if you really need a ballpark figure, send us a WhatsApp text with as much details as possible, so that we can give you an estimate. Changing frame for your own lenses: This is typically difficult as the lens shape and size has to be matched with individual frames, and hence there may not be a frame that fits, or only a small selection available for you. Some lenses may be able to be cut to fit into the new frame. As frame and service prices vary, it would be irresponsible to give a quotation for this.
  • What payment modes do you accept?
We accept Cash, NETS, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, and PayNow. We are an Approved Institution under the Child Development Account (CDA) Baby Bonus Scheme.
  • Why so cheap / Why so expensive?
We are cheaper than many big brand shops, chain stores, and even some fast retailing stores. We look for trendy stuff with a decent level of quality and functionality, rather than solely on brands that often come with a high premium. Also, our focus is not on pushing add-ons and upselling you the most expensive item to earn the highest commission, but on what you actually need. Our prices may appear higher than a few stores - and that is because we use optical-grade frames and lenses rather than 'night market' stuff - we focus on quality as much as keeping our prices affordable. Your eye check is done by an in-house eyecare professional as compared to using on-call staff. These add to our cost, but provide great value to all our consumers. When comparing, we encourage you to look at the overall package of what you will be getting for what you pay, rather than look solely at the prices.
  • How fast can my glasses be done?
We have an informative post about our express service. For lenses not under the express service, it can be as quick as the next working day, or longer at around 1-2 weeks. We can give you a better estimate in store.
  • I see blur / I feel giddy, how?
Visit us and let us help you! Don't need to guess if it's the prescription, frame adjustment, or adaptation - we will figure that one out for you.
  • I broke or lost my glasses, how?
If you bought it recently, chances are we may have the same product in stock - contact us right away!
  • Do you have warranty on your products?
Yes, we offer a 6-month warranty against all manufacturing defects. If you encounter any issues, just drop by, or send us a text. A more detailed explanation of our prescription and product warranties is available in store.
